As one who has done the rounds both as speaker and listener in a wide variety of hotels in and around the major British cities and who has been responsible on a couple of occasions for actually setting up a tax conference it made a refreshing change to attend this event in the relaxed surroundings of the conference centre of the British Library. Most large hotels are keen to lure conference promoters on to their premises. They often provide a fillip to their business at a time which would otherwise be rather slack and opportunities to sell food of varying quality to a captive market.
