The government has published a new consultation, which is open until 20 May 2020, on specific features of the new plastic packaging tax, which is due to commence in April 2022. This will apply to plastic packaging manufactured or imported into the UK containing less than 30% recycled plastic. At Spring Budget 2020, the government confirmed the tax will apply to filled, as well as unfilled packaging, with an exemption for amounts of less than 10 tonnes in a 12-month period.
