EMI takes its turn in the spotlight

Speed read
Industry lobbying has helped to put tax-favoured share plans on the government’s radar. Reviews have already led to reform of both EMI and CSOPs, with a review of SIPs and SAYE due shortly. Changes in the Finance (No. 2) Bill 2022/23 relax certain requirements for the grant of EMI options. Although the changes to EMI do help simplify the process, much complexity remains and inconsistency between the different plans is increasing. A holistic review of all UK tax favourable plans is needed.
