The Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association (PITAA) has joined the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, becoming its 21st ‘observer’.
As an observer to the Global Forum, PITAA will participate in plenary meetings and other events and will contribute to the ‘promotion of international exchange of information among tax administrations as a powerful tool to tackle cross-border tax evasion and improve domestic resource mobilisation’.
Koni Ravono, head of the PITAA Secretariat said: ‘PITAA is honoured to be part of the 21 observers and is confident that this will boost participation of Small Island Developing States in the Pacific Initiative, raise awareness on and promote alignment with global discussions held at the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for tax purposes.’
