Government plans Enterprise Zones for BAE sites

The government has invited proposals for new Enterprise Zones in areas affected by last week’s announcement by BAE Systems of up to 3,000 job cuts at Brough in Yorkshire, and Samlesbury and Warton in Lancashire.

The government has invited proposals for new Enterprise Zones in areas affected by last week’s announcement by BAE Systems of up to 3,000 job cuts at Brough in Yorkshire, and Samlesbury and Warton in Lancashire.

It will work with the Local Enterprise Partnerships to ‘develop strong and viable proposals for enterprise zones, with a view to enabling the zones to be up and running by April 2012’, HM Treasury said.
