The hedge fund industry has been going from strength to strength. In 2006 Hedge Fund Intelligence1reported that assets under management were in excess of $1 500 billion globally. More than $300 billion of assets were managed in Europe of which two thirds were managed from London. Meanwhile articles about hedge funds seem to appear in the mainstream press almost every day including broadsides at the huge bonuses being paid to hedge fund managers.
