The European Commission is challenging the UK over two longstanding reliefs that, it believes, impinge upon the freedom of movement of capital: share loss relief; and loan to traders relief. The UK has two months to amend the legislation. Brexit makes government action unlikely, although it may decide to honour claims for periods while the UK was part of the EU.
