Alongside its new charities newsletter, HMRC is also publishing a regular update for community amateur sports clubs (CASCs). Launched in February 2023 to mark almost 21 years of the CASC scheme, HMRC says that the newsletter will cover developments of interest and will also help organisations maintain their eligibility to remain registered as CASCs.
The recently issued CASC newsletter 2 very briefly summarises the Finance Bill measure to restrict UK tax reliefs to UK charities and UK CASCs, the current consultation on how to promote tax compliance in the charity sector (covering tainted gift aid donations and potential penalties for filing and payment failures) and touches on plans for digitalisation of gift aid.
