How did you end up in tax?

Luck. When training your interest in any given practice area depends on what is going on when you sit there. In tax I had some interesting work whereas my time elsewhere coincided with periods when the skills required were the ability to use a photocopier and coloured pencils.

Who in tax do you most admire?

Young tax lawyers who manage pressures I could not have dreamed of at their age: dealing with one of the longest and most complex tax codes in the world and ever shorter deal timetables whilst under siege from email and mobile phone calls.
