How did you end up in tax?
I trained as an accountant because in my youth the RAF wouldn’t recruit ladies as pilots but early into my career I came to the conclusion that tax advice added greater value to a business. I also find it much more interesting.

What are your priorities as president of the ATT?
In recent times professionals advising on tax have been subject to considerable amount of negative press on the back of the high profile reports on big earners and multinationals avoiding large sums in tax by using artificial avoidance schemes. I want the public to know that most tax professionals don't condone the use of such schemes and that tax professionals provide an invaluable service to businesses and individuals to manage their tax affairs.
