The chancellor of the exchequer and the home secretary have issued an update on the work of the Panama papers taskforce, launched in April 2016 and led by HMRC and the National Crime Agency. The statement confirms that 22 individuals are under either civil or criminal investigation, with links established to eight active Serious Fraud Office investigations and a further nine professional enablers of economic crime being targeted. The taskforce has established a joint financial analysis centre, which has identified a number of areas for further investigation.
