HMRC has issued a reminder of the new pensions duties for employers that will be phased in from October 2012, starting with the largest employers (those with 120,000 or more people in their PAYE scheme). The changes mean that employers must automatically enrol certain members of their workforce into a qualifying pension scheme and make a contribution towards the pension fund.
