Brenda Coleman (formerly of Weil Gotshal & Manges) has joined Ropes & Gray as a partner in its tax & benefits department.

Midlands-based accountancy and business advisory firm Cooper Parry has joined PKF International (PKFI), a global network of accounting firms. Cooper Parry is the only PKFI member in the Midlands and will join London-based PKF Littlejohn and Scottish firm Johnston Carmichael to represent PKF in the UK.

Accountancy firm Mazars intends to sponsor the development of a new ‘trusted tax adviser’ charter. The move is said to be in response to ‘the new emphasis on openness and transparency around tax called for by the public’. The firm has initiated discussions with the British Standards Institute to help develop a set of objectively verifiable requirements, with a longer-term objective of attaining an International Standards Organisation accreditation that can be adopted by tax advisers around the world.
