Paul Noble from Ernst & Young's Tax Risk Management Group considers the National Audit Office's comments on the Inland Revenue's efforts to prevent tax fraud in its recent report on tackling fraud
On 28 February the National Audit Office (NAO) published a report to Parliament entitled 'Tackling Fraud Against the Inland Revenue'. This report focused on the risks of external fraud against the Revenue with particular reference to the following:
● the challenges the Revenue faces in understanding and measuring the risks of fraud;
● the steps the Revenue takes to detect and deal with fraud when identified; and
● the Revenue's efforts to prevent fraud in the first place.
