Reviewing Member State support for the FTT

Only three of the 27 Member States which would need to approve the Financial Transaction Tax (FTT) proposals were firmly in favour (France, Germany and Spain), with three (Sweden, Czech Republic and Bulgaria) firmly against. Six Member States hold similar views to those of the UK – they are not necessarily opposed in principle, but are sceptical about adoption without other key conditions, such as G20 support for an FTT.
