Readers of The Tax Journal will be aware that the Government has been considering reform of the tax appeals system for some time and that a Tribunals Service (TS) modernisation project is well under way. The aim of tax appeals modernisation is to create a unified up-to-date and manifestly independent tax appeals system with one combined set of rules and procedures which are clear and easily understood. Significant progress has been made by the project team working closely with stakeholders and I would like to take this opportunity to begin updating readers on that progress.
