The Taxation Disciplinary Board (TDB) has published its annual report for 2013, highlighting the achievements of the disciplinary body for professional tax advisers. During the course of the year, the TDB dealt with a record number of complaints, including 47 new complaints from members of the public and from professional bodies. A record number of 13 cases were heard by disciplinary tribunals. Findings were made against all the defendants, none of whom sought to appeal.

Desmond Hudson, TDB chair, said: ‘This report once again highlights our determination that the TDB should remain at the forefront of best practice in the way in which we operate our procedures. Earlier this year we introduced simplified procedures for dealing with cases where the defendant accepts all the charges and new arrangements for publishing the full decisions of our tribunals.’
