In my previous role as a VAT adviser I assisted in drawing up a list of VAT tips for clients. These were intended to help clients avoid pitfalls caused by VAT accounting and ensure that clients were aware of the various reliefs available to them. Taking a leaf out of the adviser's book Customs have been devising a set of tips to help businesses. Unusually this was not devised by Customs on our own — it was prepared with the Small Business Council which consulted its members on the contents of the list....
