HMRC has extended by two weeks the consultation period for proposed changes to the VAT system, including what has become known as the ‘pasty tax’.
The consultation launched on 21 March will now close on 18 May.
Deloitte noted that although no amendments were made to the Finance Bill last week, new clauses and amendments ‘aimed at modifying the planned VAT changes on hot food, caravans and listed buildings’ were only narrowly defeated.
